Teaching Philosophy

I believe that a classroom should be a safe, caring community where children are free to speak their minds as well as blossom and grow, just like my flower quote. I will use strategies to ensure our classroom community will flourish. Teaching is a process of learning from your students, colleagues, parents, and the community. This is a lifelong process where you learn new strategies, new ideas, and new philosophies. Over time, my educational philosophy may change, and that's okay. That just means that I have grown and learned new things.

Classroom Management Philosophy

I believe that all children are capable of self-discipline and self-control. It is natural for children to become active when sitting for long periods of time. It is my job to make sure that the students are actively participating, as well as teaching them self-control and responsibilities that will help them in the future as adults. I will provide classroom rules and have the children contribute to them. Personally, there is an extent to rewards for good behavior. If everyone always received credit for participation, eventually, no one would participate anymore. This is why I am a strong believer of expected behavior set in the rules of the classroom.

Quote

"Teachers are watering cans and the students are different kinds of seeds. Every seed needs a different amount of water to grow."
